Grants Braes - The Burns Club

The Grants Braes Burns Cub has been in existence for some twenty years and became affiliated to the Robert Burns World Federation in 1999. It meets regularly in the Tyneside Tavern in Haddington and takes its name from the nearby cottage where Robert's mother, brother and sister lived and died.

The club was the brainchild of the then, mine host of the Tyneside Tavern, Kenny Graham, and originally took the form of an annual 'Burns Brunch' held on the first Sunday of February when Tyneside regulars, friends and guests celebrated the birth of the bard in the traditional manner. This event continues to flourish with tickets invariably being at a premium.

According to our constitution the club exists to:

  • Promote interest in the works of Scotland's bard, Robert Burns, and in particular, to foster East Lothian's connection with his heritage, life and family
  • Commemorate annually the poet's birth
  • Maintain social contact with kindred clubs and associations

We feel that we achieve all three aims with little difficulty and the profile of the club has never been higher.

The current president of the club is Mr Paul Kinnoch and its founder, Kenny Graham is the Honorary Life President.
